About INNOVATIONS!

Established in 1994, INNOVATIONS strives to fill the need for do-able patterns with artistic style. While they may look complex, taken one step at a time, these well-written quilt patterns will guarantee your success! Ruth's prize-winning designs focus on using traditional blocks in new ways - with unique settings, plenty of color and inspiration from nature. At INNOVATIONS our goal is to please the customer - with a quality product & fast, efficient service!

INNOVATIONS quilts are designed by Ruth Powers, who took up quilting in 1989 because she wanted a wall hanging for her new home. Not only was she hooked on quilting, her designs have been winning awards from the start - beginning with the 1990 Great American Quilt Festival in New York City.
Twinkle Stars is just one of her latest prize-winning quilts, having won 1st place in 2000 at the American Quilters Society as well as in 2001 in Asheville, NC. In addition to designing quilts & running INNOVATIONS, Ruth enjoys traveling to give lectures & workshops. If interested, please e-mail for further information.

While Twinkle Stars may have taken 1st place in Asheville, NC in 2001, it was closely followed in 2nd by Log Cabin Sunflowers. This quilt is an example of how Ruth takes a traditional quilt block & adds her own innovative ideas to create a prize-winning design.
Her 1999 1st place winner in Asheville, Goose On the Loose, is featured on our Links page, while the 1997 1st place quilt, Third Weekend in October, is featured on the Quilt Shops page.
